  3. I’ve never seen a tribute to the 50 most God-Fearing women in the world. • THE CONCEPT OF SPIRITUAL MOTHERING…

  4. The more we focus on understanding God and how we can live for His glory, the more we’ll understand our own sense of purpose.

  5. Spiritual Mothering is important because it is a way for all women to walk in faith, pursue God’s glory, and tap into eternally significant relationships.

  6. What is Spiritual Mothering and what does it look like? • Titus 2:3-5 • Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers or slaves to much wine.

  7. They are to teach what is good, and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled. (Titus 2:3-5 ESV)

  8. The traits that are highlighted are : • Reverent in behavior- the fruit of a reverent view of God • Not a slanderer- she has control of her tongue

  9. Not addicted to wine – by extension the idea is not controlled by any addiction • Teach what is good – a good working grasp of Biblical truth

  10. SPIRITUAL MOTHERING • “When a woman possessing faith and spiritual maturity enters into a relationship with a younger woman in order to encourage and equip her to live for God’s glory.” - Susan Hunt

  11. FAITH – a willingness to step out and trust God to do what can only be explained by the Holy Spirit. • SPIRITUAL MATURITY- You don’t have to be a perfect woman, but a woman of repentant faith, who practices forgiveness- receiving it and extending it.

  12. ENTERS INTO A RELATIONSHIP – intentionality • ENCOURAGE AND EQUIP - It is the WORD that equips us. • TO LIVE FOR GOD’S GLORY- • “She opens her mouth in wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.” Prov 31:26

  13. This Proverbs 31 woman is one whose heart is marinated in the love of God to the extent that it becomes the teaching of her tongue. • CONVERSATION PEACE • Mary Kassian

  14. Do you gossip? • Are you quarrelsome? • Are you reluctant to admit when you are wrong? • Do you nag? • Do you meddle?

  15. Do you lie? Misrepresent or are less than truthful? • Do you make assumptions and assume the worst about someone’s motives? • Are you sarcastic? • Do you fail to listen?

  16. K-I-N-D-N-E-S-S • Kingly focus - living with an eye on Christ as King. • Internalized grace – conscious of your need for a savior • Note your call as a minister of grace and ambassador of Christ • Deal with YOUR heart first

  17. Nurture with your words- Eph 4:29 “…let your words edify according to the need of the moment.” • Encourage • Spirit empowered • Scripture based

  18. To be a spiritual mother, you must be mothered (and fathered) by God Himself.
