From RLCO + Renko charts trading to junior brick maker Kansas City 2016 Research Weekend – distance learnig presentation by Jacek Sobieraj
Trading journey - 2015 • What was that project? One year later I am laughting at it. • I was trying to get rid of noise in market in order to trade comfortable …… • Combining renko charts with RLCO P1 pattern seemed to be a solution to be profitable in market but without enough evidence • Hmmmmm ……… • I have seen Ken and other advanced traders earning several Rs day by day consisently using RLCO patterns
After KC 2015 • I joined one year coaching programme • I have seen my own eyes that earning consistency in market is achievable • I have written down my plan to earn 5R per week consistently and achieve that goal in three months ……. after the workshop ….. • I started doing all exercises that Ken was sending us – feeling great • Gil, Joey and me were doing Skype calls on weekly basis • Started preparing weekly digest together with Gil
Next step after KC 2015 • I had written plan for next quarter • Had completed psychological exercises (I thought I did that 100% correctly) • Decided to do 2000 simulations in Forex Tester in order to improve my trading craft (all RLCO patterns, several symbols) • Prepare trading journal out of my simulations
Next step after KC 2015 • I did 590 simulations in Forex tester for XIV based on data from 2012 • Great result SQN 4.98 !!??– I knew I couldn’t duplicate it in real world • I was trading P1, SQC, Z3PO and RLxD only • I was trading in sim according to above patterns but was pressing next candle button in order to fast forward. There were days that I traded several transactions per day and days that I did just one or two -> it proved to be a trap for me
Next step after KC 2015 • I decided to trade with real money because I was doing so well in simulator so what’s the problem to repeat it in real word? • Results? • Reaction – frustraction. I was using four bullets rule and traded small position. That saved my capital and I stopped doing it after getting statistically significant sample
Next step after KC 2015 • I have stopped trading and started reading following books: • ‘Trading in the Zone’ • ’10-Minute Toughness’ • ‘Chimp paradox’ • I realized that – I was not patient (I had deeper problem – fear of not reaching my goals as planned). It was a result of falling into trap when doing my sims when I was pressing next candle button in order to ‘fast forward’ time
Next step after KC 2015 – Year 2016 • I decided to join two on-line courses: Swing Trading and Intra Day Trading • Started hard work again. Doing every exercise, watching videos etc.
Next step after KC 2015 – Year 2016 • During Day Trading online course new generation patters appeared: Owl, pocket, falling / rising dragon • Ken has given me an assigment to trade Owl pattern for my favourite symbols, • Hhhhmmmmm • It is simple, have few rules, easy to apply and seems to be working in all time frames • I have seen also ‘Brick making process’ videos posted in chat room by Ken – it is exactly about me • Don’t try. DO! As master Yoda says. So I followed this way
Next step after KC 2015 – Year 2016 • During Day Trading course we were obliged to do several exercises • I prepared my House of Trading – after long discussion with Sonal and thanks to her questions I realized that my house of trading was not mine, it was product of an imagination that is not me • I am a simple brick maker (or rather junior break maker) from videos posted in chat room • I have prepared it again doing hand made sketch (not .ppt presentation)
Next step after KC 2015 – Year 2016 • I have simple process, I am a simple man, strong sequential thinker with limited span of control (2 positions only) – I knew it from the beginning of coaching program after first few exercises • Few years ago I took Peak 101 and was described as ‘Detailed trader’ that can be quite successful following simple system (even developed by other person) that fits me • So ‘OWL’ seems to be the right system for me • Let’s try • I started trading OWL pattern for all symbols from Ken’s logic chain – paper trades only
Next step after KC 2015 – Year 2016 • I take trades that meet setups#1 – setup#5 only, • First 90 minutes I use 1 minute charts • Then switch to 3 minute charts • Never risk more that 1R • Try to set tight exits (I like top/bottom of dragon or Z+1/Z-1) not Z2 as in original concept • I use four bullets rule
Next step after KC 2015 – Year 2016 Results of last 140 paper trades
Next step after KC 2015 – Year 2016 • Make a transition from paper trading to real money trading • Make 100 real money trades with small position sizing • Document feelings, emotions and compare them to trading journal of paper trades • Find discrepancies between both
Lessons learnt after KC 2015 • Stick to one simple pattern and trade it until you feel comfortable with it (OWL for me). • Less is more (trade less and follow script) – I hear Sonal’s voice here • Balance in life is a key • First of all I have to believe that I can accomplish my targets. Not try, DO as Yoda says. • Building house of trading is a key for professional trading. Great exercises during on-line day trading course. Thank you Ken and Sonal! • I am a simple brick maker that does routine things routinely • I have everything necessary to progress in trading just use it consistently: coach, chatroom community, trading journal, daily learning journal, great on-line courses. • Going to gym regularly is important for me.
Goals as SMART for next 6 months • earning on average 5R per week consistently in real money in all market types • 2R per week till August 31, 2016 • 3R per week till September 30, 2016 • 4R per week till November 30, 2016 • 5R per week till December 30, 2016
Thank you ALL for great journey during last twelve months • Ken as our great coach • Gil and Joey as great accoutability partners • Sonal and Jeff that joined recently our weekly skype calls and share theirs experiences • All chat room members that are supportive and eager to help
