  4. Purposes of myths: • Explain the human condition: • How and why people were created • Why they are flawed • Why there is suffering • Why people die • What happens after death

  5. Purposes of myths: • To explain natural phenomena: • Setting of the sun • Phases of the moon • Rainbows • Echoes • Constellations • Animals and their characteristics or behaviors
