Description A TA is a senior who provides assistance to teachers and students within a specific class by becoming an integral part of the classroom learning environment.
Goals of the TA Program • To determine if teaching and/or your field of interest continues to be the direction that you plan to pursue upon graduation by: • Assisting teachers and students by becoming an integral part of the classroom • Becoming another set of eyes, ears, and support to the teacher and students in the class • Being a positive role model and resource for students
Comments from former TA’s “It makes me happy when I see students who weren’t doing so well become students who try.” “It helped me see the amount of work it takes to be a teacher.” “I feel valued and any work I do is needed.”
How other students view TA’s “They like getting help from me almost as much as I like helping them learn. They see me as a mix between a friend and a teacher.” “I feel I bridge the gap between teacher and student.”
Comments from teachers of TA’s “They are great role models who show students what to aspire to be.” “She helps me do more with and for my students.” “Phenomenal. They become almost as comfortable asking the TA’s for help as they do asking me for help…in some cases more comfortable.”
