What Is The Mind?? • The element of a person that enables them to be aware of the world and their experiences. • To think and to feel; the faculty of consciousness and thoughts. • Brain • Intelligence • Intellect • Reasoning • Understanding • Judgement • Sense • Feels • Thinks • Wills • Imagines • Remembers • Desires

  3. THE MIND 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 “For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” “TAKE EVERY THOUGHT CAPTIVE AND MAKE IT OBEDIENT TO CHRIST”

  4. THE MIND • Our warfare is against Spiritual Forces of evil (Ephesians 6:12) • The only weapons adequate to destroy the fortresses of satan’s unrighteousness and false teaching are those God gives.

  5. THE MIND The Ones God Gives Are: • Commitment to Truth • Righteous Living • Gospel Proclamation • FAITH • Love • Hope of Salvation • The Word of God • Persevering Prayer Ephesians 6:11-19 and 1Thessalonians 5:8

THE MIND • These weapons are powerful because they come from God • Christian Warfare involves bringing all our thoughts into Alignment with Christ’s Will • Here are 4 Steps in keeping your thoughts on Jesus… • Be Aware that God knows every thought and Nothing is hidden from Him.(Psalms 94:11,Psalms 139:2,4,23-24 2 Corinthians 5:10“ For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.”Eccles.12:14, Matthew 12:35-37, Romans 14:12)

THE MIND • Be Aware that the MIND is a Battleground.(Ephesians 6:12-13,Matthew 4:3-11,Philipians 4:8,Titus 2:11-12,James 4:7,Revelations 12:11, Matthew 4:3-11) • Focus your MIND on Christ and Heavenly things rather than on Earthly things.(Philippians 3:19, Colossians 3:2, Romans 8:6-7,Psalms 1:1-3,Psalms 19:7-14, Psalms 119, Philippians 4:8.)

  8. THE MIND • 2 Kinds of Armor • Defensive Armor for protection • Gk.Word: Perikethalaia(The Helmet)for the head of various forms embossed with many kind of figures • Gk. Word: Zoma (The Girdle)For the Loins to brace the armor tight against the body and support daggers, swords and other weapons.

  9. THE MIND • Gk. Word: Thoraely (The Breast Plate)In two parts: 1. to cover the breasts and 2. the back to protect the vital organs of the body. It extended down to the legs. • Gk. Word: Knemides (brazing boots) for the feet to cover the front of the legs. A kind of solea was often used to protect the feet from rocks and thorns etc.

  10. THE MIND • Gk. Word: Thureos (Shield)To protect the body from blows and cuts. • Offensive Armor for conquest • Gk. Word: Machaira (Sword)To destroy the enemy and bring his surrender. Beside the sword other weapons are used: the spear, lance battle acts, club, bow and arrows, and slings.

  11. THE MIND • The 6-Fold Christian Armor • The Belt of Truth (V.14) • Breastplate of Righteousness (V.14) • Feet shot with the preparation of the Gospel of Peace (V.15) • The Shield of FAITH (V.16) • The Helmet of Salvation (V.17) • The Sword of the Spirit, The Word of God (V.17)

  12. THE MIND • Always be careful what your eyes see, your ears hear, refuse to let you eyes be an instrument for Lust. (Job 31:1, Psalms 101:3, Isaiah 33:14-15,Romans 13:14) 1 John 2:16“For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world.”

  13. THE MIND Philippians 4:8 “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” Character and Conduct Begins in the MIND!!

  14. THE MIND • To Experience God’s Peace and Freedom from Anxieties believers must fix their minds on those things that are: - True • Noble • Right • Pure • Etc…

  15. THE MIND “You will keep in PERFECT PEACE Him whose MIND is steadfast because He trust in you.”(Isaiah 26:3)

  16. THE MIND • Perfect Peace is expressed in Hebrew by Shalom Shalom Implies: • Health • Happiness • Wellbeing • And Peace
