  4. The Terra-Cotta Army • Modeled after the Qin Dynasty’s army • The Terra-Cotta Army is a group of stone statues • There are over 7,000 human statues, and about 4,000 stone horses. • Discovered in 1974 • In the yellow river valley • Created to show power

  5. Religion • The Qin Emperor rejected Confucius thinking • Burned Confucius texts and writings • Taoism and Buddhism had not yet developed • The Qin Dynasty embraced a governmental philosophy called Legalism

  6. Politics • Qin was in full development from 476 to 221 B.C. • Qin created a centralized bureaucratic government • The dynasty was broken into several states, Han, Zhao, Wei, Yan, Chu, and Qi. Each state used its own aristocratic system. 230-221 B.C.

  7. The Downfall of Qin • Three assassination attempts upon emperor Qin • Qin died in 210 B.C. even though he was obsessed with life. • It fell in 207 B.C. defeated by Xiang Yu
