Transportation for the NationPOC Report Gene Trobia NGAC Fall 2011 Meeting October 5, 2011 Shepherdstown, WV
TFTN • Program • Develop Transportation data that meets the needs of a broad stakeholder group • USDOT is the A-16 Theme lead • Issues • Strategic Plan conducted and submitted • Need to develop TFTN Business Plan
Current Activities • USDOT likes the TFTN Strategic Plan • The Strategic Plan proposes leveraging the Highway Performance Management System (HPMS) as program driver for TFTN • The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) • Pleased and committed involvement & support for TFTN • Agree on need for a Business Plan if HPMS is involved • No funding available to fund the Business Plan • FHWA is anticipating 7% across the board budget cut
Issues Consequences • Without a Business Plan, TFTN becomes HPMS: • Program will likely focus on Federal and state HPMS needs • May not meet the needs of the stakeholder community • No addresses • May become just another ‘Federal Only’ effort
Recent Activities and Next Steps • NGAC passes resolution in support of TFTN • Steve Lewis received NSGIC Outstanding Service Award for his TFTN activities • Looking for support/funding to conduct TFTN Business Plan • Is there anything else NGAC can do to help TFTN move ahead?
