IFTN Moves Forward Aprill 11 – First FGDC Executive Committee meeting May 1 – FGDC Steering Committee agrees to pursue IFTN from the executive level May 30 – Executive Committee endorses project management approach to IFTN and Executive Champion roles are finalized June 4 – NGAC endorses IFTN with caveats June 5 - FGDC Steering Committee receives NGAC endorsement June 23 – First meeting of Executive Champion Oversight Group
Outcome 1: Rescope NAIP & UAIP • The primary proposed changes to NAIP are: • Cycle time (reducing from 5 to 3 years to achieve 1 meter national coverage) • Funding model (moving from “tin cup”/project based contributions to a prescribed Federal annual contribution over 3 years to complete national coverage) • The primary proposed change to UAIP is to broaden the planning to allow for greater coordination and to potentially increase leveraging of funds and the amount of imagery data that can be acquired • Timeline: TBD
Outcome 2: IFTN Plan • Define and document Federal imagery requirements and expenditures to determine if the current IFTN vision and specifications meet Federal enterprise needs or if they should be revised • Draft a plan for implementing IFTN across the Federal enterprise in partnership with state and local government, as scoped through the requirements process • Timeline: complete plan by end of calendar year
Products of the Project • Rescoped implementations of NAIP and UAIP • Documentation of Federal imagery requirements and expenditures • A Federal enterprise plan for implementing IFTN in partnership with state and local government • The scope does not include implementation of the IFTN plan, only the development of the plan itself, to be presented to the FGDC Steering Committee for review and decision on further action
Current Activities • Coordination with NDOP and GeoLOB begun • Project Charter draft in review • Activity Briefing Papers presented to Champions • Work Group Chairs being defined • Work Groups getting started • NGAC issues to be addressed in Work Groups and by Executive Committee • Next step to map out high-level gantt chart • Executive Committee to convene July 22
