First Language • Mandarin • Hainanese • Most dialects of the Chinese language spoken in Yunnan belong to the Southwestern subdivision of the mandarin group, and are therefore very similar to the dialect of neighboring Sichuan and Guizhou provinces. • In addition to the local dialects, most people also speak Standard Chinese also known as Mandarin, which is also used in media by the government as a language of instruction in education.

  3. SECOND LANGUAGE AND OTHER SPOKEN DIALECTS • The people who live in Yunnan China speak a variety of different dialects. Relatively speaking though the two main languages spoken in China are Mandarin and Cantonese • Other languges spoken in yunnan include Tibeto-Burman languages such as Naxi,Bai,Yi,Tibetan,Hani and etc. • The Naxi use the Dongba script which is the only pictographic writing system in the world today.

  4. Literacy Rate • Singapore’s Literacy rate of 2011: 94.7% • AS IN COMPARISON TO CHINA, 95.9% • China has 1.2% more Literacy than as compared to Singapore.

School • Education in China is very competitive. • By the end of the 1998,among the provinces population, 419,800 had receive a collage education and above, 2.11 million, senior middle school education,8.3 million junior middle school education, 18.5 million primary middle school education and a 8.2 million age 15 or above receiving little or no education.
