  2. Testable Question Will changing the diameter of straws, but not the length, cause a blown projectile to fly farther?

  3. Testable Hypothesis • If the diameter of the straws are changed then there will be no measureable difference.

  4. Materials • 5 straws of varying diameter • Meter stick • Paperclip • Play Dough 1 3 2 4 5

  5. Set Up • Set up meter stick on floor and one partner fills lungs to capacity and launches the Play Dough-and-paperclip projectile out of each of the straws for 3 trials

  6. Results Straw 1 > Straw 2 > Straw 3 > Straw 4 > Straw 5 There is a subtle, yet distinguishable, increase in flight with the increase in diameter .
