  3. M27 Continued… • Expanding at rate of 31 km/s • Discovered in 1764 by Charles Messier • Contains knots of gas and dust • Has largest white dwarf at core

  4. NGC 602 • Cluster of stars near SMC • Close to the Milky Way • Radiation from stars has forced away gases • Many proto-stars in outer arms • On the wing of the Magellanic Bridge
