The Cloud Survey Harris County Department of Education Cloud Technology Survey Please take time to fill out this short (less than ten minutes) survey about cloud computing services. At the end of the survey you are given a chance to leave your name and contact information if you wish someone to follow-up about our services. District Cloud Use • 74% (n=63) of respondents are currently using cloud technology • Many of the “yes” respondents also reported plans to transition an additional 25% of their systems to the cloud • Of these, 47% reporting transition plans for the 2012-2013 school year Respondents’ estimated using the cloud for 30% of their systems

1:1 Initiative and BYOD/BYOT Participation • 31% of respondents said that their districts did have a 1:1 initiative • 51% reported that their district participated in BYOD/BYOT while 68% said that their district has or is in the process of developing BYOD/BYOT guidelines 68% 51% 49% 32%
BYOD/BYOT Device By • Grade Level • 91% of districts indicated that students used one or all—netbooks, laptops, tablet devices and mobile phones • Students in grades 9-12 participated in BYOD/BYOT the most (97%) while students in grades 1-5 participated the least (46%)
