  2. Introduction • James Baldwin (1924-1987) was one of the writers who held the issue of racism on his shoulders as a civil rights activist. He had written so many literary works such as stories, poems, essays etc. In his work, he dealt mainly with racism from the perspective of African Americans.

  3. Purpose of the study: • Based on the issue of racism, this study is going to analyze one of Baldwin's stories that is "Going to meet the man". The study aims to present the issue of racism along with the issue of sex as they are illustrated in the story.

  4. Methodology: • The researcher will read the story and highlights the occurrence of certain categories. These categories are the words that are related to racism and the themes that are related to sex and mistreatment of African Americans. Thus, the word will be the unit of analysis category of racism and the topics will be the tool for handling the issue of sex and African Americans' mistreatment by Americans. The main categories will be racism, sex and mistreatment.

  5. Findings and discussion • The issue of racism is highlighted 56 times through the repeated reference to African Americans as “niggers”, “black”, “bitches” and "bastards". Americans are also referred to as "white" people, thus, there is a racist trend in the story through differentiating between "black" and "white” Americans.

  6. As for the second category that is "sex", the text, as shown in the table, is full of sexual topics and scenes. These scenes are "Jesse's impotency through a sexual scene with Grace", "the sexual influence of the image of black girls", "Jesse's sexual relationship with black girls", "sexual image of black girls", "sexual ability of black people through pumping kids", " Jesse's sexual indication", "Jesse's sexual desire towards his mother", "Jesse and Grace " in a sexual scene and "torturing the ringleader sexually".

  7. The third category, as shown in the table, explains how African Americans are mistreated by white Americans. It includes beating and torturing African Americans and killing the man after torturing him, then deforming and tearing his body and at the end This issue is highlighted six times.burning it.

  8. Through the analysis, it might be noticed that the issue of racism is handled with the issue of sex as a way that African Americans can prove their identity through sexual relationships, and, as a result, they can also prove their existence and identity among the Americans.
