A CORE tag should be boxed with each exchange unit Inspect the core by checking off the items listed on the core tag CORE TAG BAB Steering Hydraulics
1. NOT DISASSEMBLED • The unit must be complete and assembled. It must not have been dissembled and reassembled. • Check all cap screws to insure it has not been dissembled. Check for wrench marks and chipped paint BAB Steering Hydraulics
So, I Can’t Accept A Disassemble Core? • Yes, you can accept a disassembled core but you must first call the BAB Order Desk at 800-783-5222 for a special RGA #. BAB Steering Hydraulics
2. Rotates Freely Rotate the input shaft from lock to lock in both directions. Hold the sector shaft. It should turn freely and not bind or lock up. BAB Steering Hydraulics
3. Sector Shaft Damage • Check the sector shaft and the sector shaft splines for damage. • Make sure that the splines are straight. Use a pocket T-Square to check the splines. • Check for fractures • Check for twisted & worn or thin splines. • Check for welds BAB Steering Hydraulics
4. Input Shaft Damage • Check the input shaft and the input shaft splines for damage. • Make sure that the splines are straight. Use a pocket T-Square to check the splines. • Check for twisted or stripped shafts & worn or thin splines. BAB Steering Hydraulics
5. Case Damage • Check the entire case for cracks, broken ears and damage. • Case damage is usually very obvious BAB Steering Hydraulics
6. Mounting Holes • Check all mounting holes to insure they are not elongated, stripped or damaged BAB Steering Hydraulics
7. Ports • Inspect all hydraulic ports • Check threads for damage • Remove all fittings BAB Steering Hydraulics
Internal Damage • There is no charge back for internal damage providing the inspection criteria is followed. • Critical cores are subject to internal inspection. Such as a scored piston, housing and worn mating parts BAB Steering Hydraulics
