Objective • Today we will review classroom rules and procedures
Essential Question • What are some key components to being successful in this course?
What are the rules in this classroom? • BE COURTEOUS: Respect yourself and others. • BE PREPARED: Arrive to class on time, ready to work, and bring necessary materials. • Keep off the teacher’s area and its components. • Class is dismissed by teacher, not the bell.
Special Guideline This classroom is a “No Whining Zone”. That means that there will be no whining, for ANY reason. Everything that I do is in your best interest, so please respect the “No Whining Zone” this semester.
Consequences • 1st Offense: Verbal Warning • 2nd Offense: Written Warning • 3rd Offense: Teacher–Student Conference • 4th Offense: Teacher–Parent Conference • 5th Offense: Administration Americas High School
Severe Clause • Any student who uses profanity, fights, damages school property (this includes the property of the teacher and other students), or is disrespectful (as defined by the teacher) will be sent to the office IMMEDIATELY.
Entering the Room • Please enter quietly. • Have a seat. • Take out your materials. • Go over classroom Objective, Essential Question, and Closing Task. • Begin bellwork assignment.
When you are tardy . . . • Enter quietly. • Excused: Place excuse in the basket on my desk. • Have a seat and take out your materials.
Getting Your Attention I will . . . • Stand in front of the class. • Raise my hand. • Wait for everyone to be quiet. • Begin speaking.
Finish Class work Early “What do I do next?” Organize ISN - Bring a book to read
After an Excused Absence • Visit my page on sisd – just google “gamez americas” • Copy what you missed. • Retrieve any handouts.
Scheduled Check Out • Please let me know as you enter the classroom. • I will be at the door. • Quietly raise your hand to get my attention. • Pack your materials and leave at the scheduled time. • If it is an emergency, quickly get my attention and I will assist you.
Cheating and Late work • * CHEATING/PLAGIARIZING: Cheating/copying is NOT tolerated in my class! There will be parent contact and a zero will be given for that assignment. • * LATE WORK: I WILL ACCEPT LATE WORK, BUT IT WILL COST YOU! The HIGHEST grade you can make is a 70! Late work will not be accepted after the assignment has been graded and passed out. ALWAYS HAND IN ALLWORK! Zeros, incomplete work, and late work are the most common reasons for loss of credit
Hall Pass/ Cell Phones • * HALL PASS: Going outside of the classroom is not permitted during class time (i.e. no library, computer lab, counselor’s, book room) unless it is an emergency. There is NO requirement that a student must be given a hall pass. Hall passes are a PRIVILEGE! • ELECTRONIC DEVICES: cell phones are not allowed. If electronic device is used for ANY REASON when not permitted, the device will be confiscated.
Class Dismissal • The teacher dismisses you, not the bell. • Do not start packing up prior to the bell. • Wait until the teacher finishes and officially dismisses you with “Have a niceday!”
