DEPARTMENTS Department of Oil and Gas Geology named after Academician A.A. Trofimuk The department staff (5 Doctors of Science in Geology and Mineralogy, 2 associate professors, a senior teacher and 4 assistants) was training geologists, preparing them for future work at enterprises involved in oil and gas industry. Graduates of the department worked in various regions of our country, along with such countries as Canada, Saudi Arabia, Colombia, Spain etc.
DEPARTMENTS Department of General Geology and Hydrogeology Today the department has 17 faculty members including 3 doctors of science and 8 candidates of science. The main specialties are hydrochemistry, engineering geology and geodynamics, geology of nonmetallic raw materials. The department has laboratories of general geology, hydro-geochemistry, hydro-geology, soil science and soil mechanics. The department assisted in setting up the Educational Center of Engineering, Geological and Geophysical studies as well as R&D Laboratory of X-Ray Computer Tomography.
DEPARTMENTS Department of Geophysics and Geoinformation Technologies 5 doctors of science and 6 associate professors are involved in research and development issues and teaching activities at the department. The department includes: - R&D seismic center; - Educational seismic laboratory; - Educational geoelectrical prospecting laboratory; - Educational laboratory of petro-physics and nuclear physics; - Laboratory of remote sensing; - Laboratory of paleomagnetism; - Educational laboratory of geo-informational technologies.
DEPARTMENTS Department of Regional Geology and Mineral Resources The department employs 13 faculty members including 3 doctors of science and 7 candidates of science. Main scope of activities – Subsurface geology and mineral resources of the Volga-Ural region. The department holds petrographic and mineragraphic classes, laboratory of X-ray and electron-microscopic analysis, laboratory of spectral analysis.
DEPARTMENTS Department of Paleontology and Stratigraphy Micro-paleontological laboratory, under this department, provides the solutions for bio-stratigraphic issues in Russian and foreign geologic companies and constantly expands the scope of stratigraphic research, the scale of fauna groups and international project cooperation.
DEPARTMENTS Department of Mineralogy and Lithology One of the oldest departments at University, founded in 1840. At present, its faculty includes 4 doctors of science and 3 candidates of science. The department has laboratories of electron and nuclear magnetic resonance, radiography, electron optical spectroscopy and luminescence, thermography, lithological laboratory, mineral and crystallographic classes.
DEPARTMENTS Department of High-viscosity Oil and Mineral Tars Bachelors are trained in the following specialties: «Petroleum business» and «Geology» with concentration in «Prospecting for high-viscosity oil and natural bitumen» in the following areas: 1. Projecting processes of complex prospecting for high-viscosity oil and natural bitumen; 2. Extraction of high-viscosity oil and natural bitumen and their processing into synthetic oil, production of petrochemical products and bitumen materials; 3. Non-linear wave mechanics in technologies of complex prospecting for high-viscosity oil and natural bitumen; 4. Nanotechnologies of composite; 5. Petroleum technologies and gaso-chemistry.
GEOLOGICAL MUSEUM Geology museum named after A.Shtukenberg at Kazan Federal University is one of the oldest and profuse natural science museums in Russia. The present collection fund at the museum (400,000 items) includes the units of mineralogy, crystallography, paleontology, historic geology, fauna of the Ice Age, oil geology, geodynamic processes and human evolution.
