Ear Training. Major and minor chords. Major Minor. Listening to the audio Major has the major 3 rd note in the scale. Minor chord has the 3 rd lowered a ½ step. That is the only difference. On a piece of paper number 1-12. We will use that as the starting place.

  2. Major Minor • Listening to the audio • Major has the major 3rd note in the scale. Minor chord has the 3rd lowered a ½ step. That is the only difference. • On a piece of paper number 1-12. We will use that as the starting place. • This is only E major and E minor chords. • E Major is E G# and B • E Minor is E G and B

  3. How did you do? • Hopefully you got at least 8 of the chords. • Here are some other hints. • For minor sing dragnet. For major in the mood. If they work you have it. • Listen to it now with various other chords other than just E forms.

  4. Misc. Major Minor • Again number from 1-12. • Try the songs. • This will be a bit more difficult but totally doable. • Listen closely to the audio in the beginning. • Your goal on this should be to improve over time. For some it may take months to hear this for others you may be successful from the start.

  5. Try to block other things out • We will play part II now.

  6. Last 12 for tonight. • Again write down 1 – 12 again. • These will also be mixed up. • Really concentrate.

  7. Now pair up • Do in groups of 2 or 3. • One person plays chords other two identify the chords. • I will give you 10 to 15 minutes on this. • Help each other out. Think of songs that work for you. Identify the essence of the chord.
