2010 operating budget • Instructions to all departments • 4 percent reduction to property tax requirement • Include PERA and health insurance costs for employees • Library • Proposed reduction of $3 to $5 million to 2010 operating budget • Increase in operating expenses due to opening of Maple Grove and Plymouth • Reduction in merger funds from City of Minneapolis • Other factors • Governor’s unallotment • Human Services • Stimulus dollars • HCMC
Goingforward • Library under budget in 2008 • Library has taken significant reductions in 2009 – dollars and FTE • Staff who filled positions that have been eliminated have all been offered other positions in the Library. This practice will continue. • Mission and strategic plan will give direction
