Key dates for Year 11 Parents and students • Week beginning 10th November : Year 11 Grade sheets issued to students • Wednesday 19th November : Year 11 Parents evening • Monday 1st – Friday 19th December : Year 11 Mock examinations • Mock exams results day (W/b 19th January)
Real GCSE’s Level 1 British Sign Language 16th/17th/18th December Science modules for double science and some resits in January
Year 11 mentoring All A/A* students will be mentored All Key marginal C/D borderline students Some subject specific e.g. 10 students interested in medicine will be mentored by medical students Some University students Some e-mentors for other students who do not fit into any of the other categories
Aimhigher University trips are being organised to encourage those with the potential to go to university to look at this as a real option. Possible trip for parents and students to visit a University together to discuss issues around university.
Careers guidance All students will have a Connexions interview. During from time students working on a range of activities including writing CV’s and application forms All students will attend a Careers fair at the London Docklands Excel Centre 20th/21st November
Work experience Two weeks 29th June – 10th July If you are able to offer a place or know somebody who might please leave your contact details this evening and Mrs Angi Barnett, our Work Experience Co-ordinator will contact you.
Revision techniques and advice Top Revision Tips. Get organised Revise with a friend Do not sit down for too long (quality sessions of 20 minutes are best). Get some sleep!
Linking learning to humour is a very good method of remembering.10 minutes before a test or examination do 2 minutes exercise (fast walk is fine), eat a handful of fruit or raisins and drink a glass of water. Know your preferred learning styles. Use a revision timetable Drink lots of water
