Ground Rules • Observers should not share what they have observed in a lesson with anyone outside their pairs. • Observers should not share comments made during the debriefing with people outside their pairs. • Observers should not offer suggestions to host teachers unless they explicitly ask for this type of feedback.
Describe What You Noticed • Guest teacher shares the circled items on his/her observation form beginning with “I noticed…” • Host teacher actively listens to the feedback taking notes on what was shared.
Share Feedback through Probing Questions • Guest teacher shares his/her feedback to the learning question beginning with any of the following: • I wonder… • What’s another way you might…? • What would it look like if…? • What impact do you think…? • Host teacher actively listens and writes down “take-aways” from the feedback shared. Resist the urge to give suggestions or answer the questions posed.

Reflective Discussion • Round Robin #1 • “I will continue to…” • “However, I’m going to…” • Round Robin #2 • Starting with Administrators: • To what extent was the instructional rounds experience valuable to you and your staff? • To what extent will instructional rounds help you grow as an instructional leader?
