  3. Lesson outcomes • ALL will be able to classify the different opinions within Christianity on homosexuality. • MOST will be able to decide whether they think religious teachings on homosexuality are out of date today. • SOME will be able to explain whether they believe in Nature or Nurture.

HOMOPHOBIC Being prejudice or discriminating against someone because of their sexuality.   7. What does Christianity say? Old Testament - Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable. New Testament - Men committed indecent acts with other men and received the due penalty for their perversion.

  14. Homosexuality and the Law • Homosexuality became legal in 1967 as long as.... • All such activity took place in private • Those involved were consenting adults aged 21 or over. • In 1994 the age of consent was reduced to 18 and in 2000 reduced again to 16.

What about marriage? • The first “civil partnership” in the UK took place on 5 December 2005. • A civil partnership happens when two people sign the civil partnership document in the presence of a registrar and two witnesses. It is the same procedure as a civil wedding in a registery office. • You can’t have any religious songs or readings at a civil partnership, and you can’t have one in church.
