Solar Eclipse By: Maddie Hayes
What is a Solar Eclipse? • A Solar eclipse is an eclipse of the sun occurring when the moon is revolving in its orbit around the earth coming between the sun and the earth. The moon blocks the light of the sun and a shadow of themoon is cast over the earth's surface.
What are the different types of solar eclipse? • Partial Solar Eclipse • Total Solar Eclipse • Annular Solar Eclipse
Partial Solar Eclipse • A partial solar eclipse is an eclipse of the sun in which the moon does not completely hide the solar surface or photosphere so that some direct rays of sunlight reach the observer.
Total Solar Eclipse • A total solar eclipse is an eclipse of the sun in which the moon completely hides the solar surface or photosphere and thereby cuts off all direct rays of sunlight from theobserver
Annular Solar Eclipse • An annular eclipse occurs when the moon blocks out the center of the sun, leaving a glowing ring called an annulus around the moon’s dark silhouette.
What Causes a Solar Eclipse? • A solar eclipse is caused when the Sun is either partially or fully obscured by the Moon. Since the Moon blocks the Sun, some areas of the Earth fall under the Moon's shadow. When that happens, the people living in those areas experience a Solar eclipse. The Moon casts two types of shadows on the Earth when it blocks the Sun.
