34 Hour Restart • Logic = Return to 70 hour week (vs. 80+ now possible) • Two consecutive periods of 1 am to 5 am off duty Hours of Service update • May only be used once per week (168 hours) • 168 hours since beginning previous restart • Less impact to drivers with regular schedule • No impact on drivers working < 70 hours per week “Profitability Through Safety”
Review your normal operations and look for potential impacts • Do your drivers work more than 70 hours in 7 or 8 days? • How many days per week do you normally work? • Do you do occasional weekend work? • What time do your drivers normally start their restart? • Are they working during the 1 to 5 a.m. period on the days they usually take the 34 hour restart now? • Do they normally take more than 34 hours off already to get their restart?
