  1. Car Accident Prevention Tips: Five Inspections to Keep Your Vehicle Road Ready

  2. Although paying attention when you drive, not texting, and following all the rules of the road can prevent a car crash, simple maintenance of your vehicle can go a long way toward keeping you and other drivers safe when you drive. While you might be aware of things like getting your oil changed regularly, you might also want to ensure that you get these five inspections to make sure your vehicle is road ready.

  3. 01 Exterior Inspection Many drivers focus on the inside of the car, but it’s important to also inspect the exterior of the car. This means checking for any new damage such as chips or cracks in the windshield, or paint chips or rust on the body. Make sure you check the tires as well, and make certain there are no fluid or liquid spills under the car.

  4. It is just as important to check the interior of the car. Look for properly functioning seat belts, interior lights, controls, and accessories. You should also check for unobstructed views around your car while you are sitting in the driver’s seat, and make sure the warning lights on the dash are working properly. 02 Interior Inspection

  5. 03 You should also check certain areas while you are driving—as long as it is safe to do so. While you drive, listen for unusual noises from the engine, brakes, and the exhaust system. It helps to have a detailed inspection of the engine, lights, windshield wipers, and tires while in transit so that you can catch any issues that you need to take care of. 6. Tire Inspection While it is part of an exterior inspection, you also need a more detailed inspection. Replace your tires if you see bulges, bumps, or exposed tread. It is also crucial that your tires are the proper size and that you have similar tires on all four wheels. In your tire inspection, it’s a good idea to make sure your emergency spare tire is in good condition, also. 04

  7. 05 Brake Inspection Another inspection you should consider is a brake inspection. Unfortunately, you could have a brake problem and not even know it until you need your brakes most. To ensure that your vehicle is road-ready, have the brakes inspected on a regular basis.
