  3. What’s Included in the TrueSTEAM Box?

Tools and Parts Needed • Tools needed to install TrueSTEAM™ • Wire cutter/stripper • Torx driver T-20 and T-30 • Standard screwdriver • 1-3/4-in. diameter hole saw • 1/8-in. drill bit • 18-gauge wire (up to 5 conductor) • Other Optional Parts: • Condensate pump rating of 212°F (100°C) if used. • Drip pan with water sensor shut-off required underneath TrueSTEAM if installed in or above finished space.

Tips and Precautions • Be sure to read and understand the Installation Guide and complete list of precautions before starting work! • Adhere to voltage, heavy equipment and hot water warnings in the manual • Comply to all install, plumbing, wiring guidelines in the manual, as well as those listed in your local guidelines • Wear safety glasses • Do not install in locations which are: • Outside operating temperature range: 34°F to 104°F • In confined space (less than 1 foot of clearance) • Exposed to outside weather DEDICATED TRUESTEAM HOTLINE 800-814-9452

Step 1: Choosing a Location Choose a location that has access to a: • Vertical surface with adequate clearances. • Cold water supply line must be used. • Drain with a high-temperature water rating. • Electrical circuit rated to your humidifier. • Required Minimum Circuit Capacity HM506 7 Amps HM509 10 Amps HM512 12 Amps Model

  7. Step 2: Mounting on the Supply Duct • Position template on supply duct, and ensure proper • clearances from A-coil.

  8. Step 3: Mount Bracket • Secure bracket to duct using provided self-drilling sheet • metal screws.

  9. Step 4: Insert Duct Nozzle • Install duct nozzle by ensuring o-ring gasket is properly • seated in the groove, and slide foam gasket down over • nozzle. • Insert nozzle and twist clockwise to ensure tight seal of • nozzle to TrueSTEAM.

  10. Step 5: Mounting TrueSTEAM • Push down to secure humidifier to bracket arms. • Ensure gasket forms tight seal in duct hole. • Allow 4 inches clearance from • nozzle outlet to any duct wall • and allow 24 inches of • downstream open duct • air space to prevent duct • condensation.

  11. Step 6: Plumbing Use only cold water. Do not use hot water supply. a. Water Filter. Insert 1/4-inch copper or plastic water line. Apply modest pull to ensure a tight fit. b. Back-flow preventer valve. Insert 1/4-in. copper or plastic water line. Apply modest pull to ensure a tight fit. c. Connect 1/2-in. drain tube. Secure drain tube to barbed fitting with hose clamp. d. Shut off the water supply. Secure 1/4-in. copper or plastic water feed tube.

  13. After Installation • Educate the homeowner on what to expect next. • It may take up to a week of continuous operation to achieve the humidity control set point. • A slight plastic smell may be detectable the first week of operation. This is normal and will dissipate after running a short time. • There may be a slight increase in the homeowner’s energy bill even when TrueSTEAM™ is sized and operating correctly. Set the expectation that comfort costs money to avoid callbacks.
