Parents and Adults • We learn from our parents and teachers when they teach you new things each day. • When your parents are driving down the street in a new place you may ask your parents what some people are doing. • Other times when you have to do new chores that you don’t know how to do you can ask your parents and they will show you how to do it.
Teachers • In school you are learning from your teacher every week day in all of your classes. • In class you learn about things that you probably could not figure out on your own especially in science. • Your teachers tell you how to add, subtract, multiply, and other things.
Books Books teach you about world records or things about school subjects. They also can help you study for tests and teach why things happen. Books also can help you pronounce words. If you use the dictionary you can find words you do not understand and figure out what they mean.
Television We can learn from the television on several channels like the discovery channel. The channels can also show how things work and how things are made. You may also find out about people who invented things and people in your country’s history.
Environment If you are looking carefully you might see workers at a building site and learn how to use tools. You also might go in the forest and study plants like how they grow what kind of place they live in. If you are outside you can just sit down and look at everything around you and try to figure out how they work and what they do.
Tours If you are on a tour the guide will tell you about mountains or things in a museum. The guide may also tell you how Indians used some of the things at the place. Other times they may ask you to help them with something and you can learn how it feels to use it.
Internet The Internet is probably one of the biggest place for your questions to be answered. You may ask why animals are nocturnal and if you look it up you will probably find it. It can teach us about many things from animal species to the wars in your country’s history.

I have learned about the world from different types of people, dictionaries, and older people. I also have learned about the world by going to school to get help from smarter people. At school I learn about writing, reading, typing and Read Naturally. Read Naturally is a program where you get to pick a story and write about what you know. Next, you time yourself reading for one minute. You then mark your graph in blue and read along with the tape three times. You practice reading without the tape to improve, and you answer the questions to pass the story. Finally you mark your graph in red and write what you remember.” Lillian Lawton Elementary School Seattle, WA 98199
Learning from the World I can learn from the world around me. I can watch elders to see what they do. I can remember it, and as I get older I can do it. I can learn to play games by watching my cousins and doing. I can learn about plants and animals by seeing how they react to nature. When I learn from people, planets, and animals, I’m in a learning world. Hailey Kirsch 4th gr Hailey Kirsch 4th Grade Franklin Township School Quakertown NJ
How I Learn From The World Around Me When I go walking outside there are many ways I can learn from my environment. If I look at a tree’s leaves, I can see if it is growing well. I can watch an animal in my yard and see what it does. For example if it eats grass and doesn’t seem to be hiding it is probably an omnivore. There are a lot of things I can learn in nature, even if it’s just a yard. Trevor Edwards Grade 4 Franklin Township School Quakertown, USA
How computers teach me • Computers, the Internet, and technology have influenced my learning by whenever I have to type an essay on something, every time I go on the computer my typing skills get way better and I can type faster. Also when I go on the computer and my spelling gets way better because the computer tells me when I get a word wrong. I can learn another way I can go on the fourth grade homepage • And that has all the answers and I can copy them down. The bad way is to e-mail your friend and bug them for the answers. • Blaise Hudak GRADE 4 • FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP SCHOOL • QUAKERTOWN, NEW JERSEY U,S
I think I learn a lot at school, with friends, and at my house. I learn English, science, social studies, math, health, Spanish, and how to work computers. But I can learn all that at home too. You can also learn things from friends from other countries or states, like other languages, how to cook different food, or teach other traditions. You can learn many different things many different ways. Emily Jacobi Grade 4 Franklin Township School Quakertown, New Jersey, U. S. A
