Goal Setting for Your Program • We set Goals • Everyone sets goals. • Why do goals fail? • Unrealistic goal(s) • No action plan • No follow thru • What is a Goal • Goals are benchmarks, achievements that are CLEAR, MEASURABLE and REALISTIC. • Two types of goals? • Individual goals • Team goals • We set both individual and team goals every Friday morning on a 3x5 card each player writes down team goals on one side and individual goal on the other side. I collect them and critique them next week. (Follow thru)

Stats • TEAM GOALS • LEAGUE • PLAYOFF • BEAT St. Vincent’s • PLAYER EXAMPLE OF 5 STEP PLAN IN ACTION • GOAL: To make all-league as a JR. • TIMELINE: 2010 season • ACTION PLAN: • Make the bad braves and varsity club (100+ points). • To study and learn my “O” and “D” play books. • To study extra time on our scouting reports/tape. • REWARD: Purchase Madden 2010 • RE-SET: To become a 2x all-league player and all-empire(section) in 2011.

Goal Setting for Your Program • TEAM DINNER • A great social event every Thursday with all the obvious rewards but we add a bounding activity examples. • 1) What is your greatest advantage in achieving your goals. • Pick a player and see if he agrees. • 2) What holds you back from achieving your goals. Ask another player and see if they agree. • 3) Fill in the blanks if________ did __________ we would be a stronger team/or they would be a better player. • 4) Praise someone in here for something you admire about them.

  7. Objectives • Team Objectives must be hit! At least five! • Offense: • Score 21 Points. • 300 Total Yards. • Complete 50% passes attempted. • 2 or less turnovers. • No sacks. • 10 play drive. • 1 big play over 25 yards. • Score 100% inside 10 yd. line. • 50% success on 3rd down. • Forced to punt 3 times or less.

  8. Objectives • Team Objectives must be hit! At least five! • Defense: • Hold offense to less than 10 pts. • Do not allow play over 25 yards. • Hold opponents to less than 100 yards rushing. • Hold opponents to less than 150 yards total. • Hold opponents to less than 10 first downs. • To cause 4 turnovers. • Score a touchdown on defense. • Do not allow opponents to score from the 5 yard line. • Block or cause poor punt or kick. • Allow no more than 3 consecutive first downs.

  10. Braves Football • Score 100 points • 100 points = Varsity Club • 120 points = All-State Club • 140 points = All-American Club • The better teams have the Majority of the players reaching at least Varsity Club Status • Winner receives a t-shirt.
