  3. Are twin fingerprints the same? No, they are completely different!

  4. Do we have similar patterns on our feet?

  5. Are all your fingerprints the same? • Before you are born, your fingerprint patterns are set for life and are completely random. • You could have all “loops” for instance, or you could have a mixture. • NO ONE IN THE WORLD HAS THE SAME FINGERPRINTS!

Galton & Vucetich Sir Francis Galton Juan Vucetich A British anthropologist and a cousin of Charles Darwin, began his observations of fingerprints as a means of identification in the 1880's.   Vucetichwas an Argentinian police officer who made the first criminal fingerprint identification in 1892. Francisca Rojas, murdered her two sons and cut her own throat in an attempt to place blame on another.  Her bloody thumb print was left on a door post.

This is because the police “know” they belong to the suspect. • An unknown fingerprint left at a crime scene is called a “questioned” mark (this is because until the person is identified; it remains in question..)

  32. Take Your Own Footprint (Team Exercise) Give yourself a good space! Take off your shoe and sock. Peel open one, two, or three NEW ink strips. Gently step on the ink strips and transfer your foot to the A4 piece of paper. Wipe the ink off. Write your name on the footprints you have just taken.
