  1. Inspiration Well When We Pray ‘Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen’ Matthew 6:9-13(KJV) One night after bible study with the children at church we were closing out with prayer. We asked for a volunteer to pray and getting one was slow in coming. Finally, one of the younger children in the group shyly lifted her hand to pray. She said ‘Lord we thank you for this day and, and… (stammering and a brief, hesitant pause) she said again ‘Lord we thank you for this day! Amen!’ Are we able to say that at the end of our day – everyday? Think about it, can we really and do we truly thank God for this day? What if you received a pink slip at work today? Lord I thank you for this day! Amen! What if you have an unexpected and unplanned car repair? Lord I thank you for this day! Amen! What if your neighbor ‘borrowed’ your newspaper (again)? Lord I thank you for this day! Amen! What if a driver cuts you off in traffic? Lord I thank you for this day! Amen! What if your child reminds you at 730 am that she needs 3 dozen cupcakes for the school bake sale today? Lord I thank you for this day! Amen! What if, what if – the list could go on and on. But at the end of the day can we thank God for the day no matter how good, bad, hectic, whatever? You might say “After the kind of day I had I just can’t find the words or strength to pray.” If you still have breath in your body then you can pray! God already knows about your day-yep every single detail! Will you thank Him for it? Satan wants us to ask ‘why me’ and wallow in ‘woe is me’. We can’t praise God if we are having a non-stop pity party. We will have some days that might throw us for a loop but we have to press on. Oh, go ahead and ‘woo woo woo’ for a quick second but don’t stay there. We serve a God who is a mighty, great, and awesome Creator who loves us so much that we cannot even begin to comprehend! Offer up a prayer of thanksgiving! Offer up a prayer of praise! Offer up a prayer of expectancy! Offer up a prayer of __________! Get the picture? Don’t know what to pray? Start with the Lord’s Prayer. Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You for this day that You have made. Thank You for Your love, grace, and mercy toward me. Help me to always find time to say ‘Thank You’. Help me to praise You on the mountain top and in the valley. Lord, forgive me when I try to wallow instead of follow You. Teach me to pray Lord, teach me to pray. SLK 10812
