  2. By the end of this session we will have: • Heard about PBIS • Learned how it will be used to help improve behavior management at Emory Grove • Met EGC Core Team members • Had an opportunity to ask questions and offer comments.

What is PBIS? • Over 2,000 schools across the country - over 400 in Maryland – have implemented PBIS. • 50% or more schools reduce their office referrals by 50% the first year. • PBIS is a process for creating safer and more effective  schools. • PBIS focuses on improving a school’s ability to teach and support positive behavior for all students. 

  4. The 3 MajorComponentsof PBIS • Teaching appropriate behavior in all settings. • Interventions when behavior expectations are not met. • Recognition when behaviors are met.

  16. Teacher Advisor Program • Students meet once a week with T.A. • Discuss behavioral and academic progress • Parent phone calls • Check with teachers • Assist with goal setting and staying on track
