Campus Resources for Organizations • Registration Process usually including By-Laws • Availability of campus meeting spaces • Training & Planning for Student Officers • Institutional deadlines & policies affecting student organizations • Honor Organization Council • Advisor/Sponsor expectations & requirements
Find Student Leaders • Seek interested students with a time to serve • Plan for meetings of limited time & regular place • Define Duties & Responsibilities of Officers • Discuss with student leaders the character of successful honorary society meetings • Volunteering on campus—literacy, education about opportunities for members (Bobcat Build), remember limited time commitments
Discuss Succession from Outset • Multiple sponsors (2-3) with different responsibilities • Identify other interested faculty & staff—potential successors • Encourage officers to keep notebooks or web presence with Blackboard or Sakai • Use current officers to recruit successors • If graduate student members, consider dividing the offices with President as undergraduate
