History (Neanderthal-Renaissance), literature (Petit Prince & L’Etranger, and other short pieces), and culture (cinema) of France and French-speaking world (Africa) • 3. Comprehensive grammar review (AP and or college placement test preparation) • French IV • 1. Talking about yourself, others, your immediate and global community: • Comparing living styles • Environmental concerns and issues • Relationships with friends and family • 2. History (Louis XIV- present), literature (Hugo) and culture (art) of France and French- • speaking world • 3. Comprehensive grammar review 20% Quizzes 20% Tests 15% Daily Work 15% Projects 30% Participation

Global Awareness Week (Monday, February 7– Thursday, February 11) 32 speakers 1 keynote Faculty, community members, & professionals Traveled, worked, visited in another country France Trip Language & Friendship (based out of Minneapolis) 5 missed days of school (spring break) Family Stay (5 nights) $3000+ Paris + (Normandy, Loire Valley, Provence, Brittany, Rhone-Alps) Will be traveling this spring, and then again in 2013. ANNOUNCEMENTS * For those students going on this year’s France trip in Spring of 2011, the family stay letter rough drafts are due Sept 22nd and the next check of $500 is also due Monday, Sept 22nd. Be sure to check my website for pertinent announcements and travel information.

  6. WHAT CAN YOU DO TO HELP? • Check the Parent Portal on a regular basis • Email me anytime with questions or concerns • Ask your son/daughter what they learned in French class (ie: have them speak the language for you) • Make French cuisine with them* * = extra credit for class
