GYAN - SETU • Why : • Capacity building of volunteers as well as the local students • Building communication bridges (“Setu”) • Who : • Educational Activity Research Center (EARC),JnanaPrabodhini, Pune • Disha – IISER, Pune • JaneevYuva, Pune
Arunachal Pradesh • Faced the 1962 Chinese aggression. Historical unsettled border dispute searching for solution. • Hot spot of Biodiversity • Rich ethnic diversity • State poised at the cross road of modern development and preservation of biodiversity, traditional life style and ethnic identity.
ASSAM • State ravaged by seasonal flooding of Brahmputra. • Unresolved long standing issues of legal / illegal migrant population. • Conflicts of regional aspirations. • Lack of job opportunities, dwindling land and other resources leading to communal conflicts • Link state for other North Eastern States
Chhattisgarh • State Rich in natural resources • Uneven development. Large tribal population remains without basic amenities. • Hot bed of Maoist activities • State in news for wrong reasons

JAMMU AND KASHMIR • Political turmoil - leading to closer of schools for long period • Collapse of transport in winter and unheated schools - leading to poor attendance • Lack of qualified and trained teachers • These factors affect the academic standard of students.
Why Educational Programs ? • The program would be a means of striking a dialogue with students and teachers, and through them the parents and general population • To provide exposure to students and fresh resource inputs to teachers. • To generate interest in science subjects and cultivate proactive problem solving ability in students. • Address the low academic standard in remote regions.
Content of Workshops • Hands-on Science experiments and Science Toys • Activities based on natural, environmental, and social sciences • Field trips • Others: Arts, Craft, Sports etc
Other Features • Program aims at personal development of students as well as the volunteers. • Volunteers are exposed to diversity of our nation in ecology, ethnicity and life style • It provides an opportunity to youths and students from different regions of India to establish bonds through shared experiences and knowledge.
Other Details • Registration Required • Team Size : 3 to 6 • Duration : 12 – 15 Days • “Orientation-cum-Training” program at EARC, JnanaPrabodhini • Travel Expenses to be borne by Volunteers. • Accommodation and food from local collaborating organizations. • Volunteers will share part expenses of local lodging and boarding. • Certificate of participation from EARC, Jnana Prabodhini.
