  2. History • Sea Scouts was started just 2 years after Boy Scouts in 1912. • Formed in order to prepare older scouts for work on ships. • Title changed to “Sea Explorers” in 1949, and changed back to “Sea Scouts” in 1998.

  3. Our Program • Sea Scouts is its own district. • Individual units are called ships. • Activities and Material are more related to nautical skills and maritime career experience. • Sea scouts participate in advancement.

  4. R.A. Rasmussen Sea Base

  5. The Base • Located on Marine Drive • Includes boathouses for all the units, fleet vessels, and equipment storage. • House for the harbormaster who watches over the sea base.

  6. MV Reliant

  7. Reliant • 64 Foot former US Navy cable laying boat. • Bunking for 12, can sleep 30 above deck.

  8. Chartering The Reliant • Cruise, or charter to Government or Sand Island. • 2 possible docking locations. • Captain and engineers Provided • Hands on experience for your troop. • Minimum of 10 people, 40 max

  9. Pricing • 4 Hours: $150+$10 per person • 4-12 Hours: $300+$10 per person • Overnight: Rates Vary • Your troop provides meals for crew. • Minimum 2 adults, or 1 for every ten youth.

  10. Tidal Wave

  11. Tidal Wave • 38 foot cabin cruiser • Bunking for 9 crew, 4 officers. Chartering • Groups of 10 or less. • Camp on Government Island • Tidal Wave is uninspected, so there is no charge, just cover fuel cost.

  12. Cascade 29’s/Coronado 15’s

  13. Sailing • Scouts can earn their small boat sailing merit badge. • Take the helm of our 29 footers! • Sleeping space and showers available at the base for overnighters, • Or sail to government island and camp overnight.
