What’s being tested? • Testing 3 Standards: • Standard 1: Students will use vocabulary development and an understanding of text elements and structures to comprehend literary and informational grade level text. • Standard 2: Students will write informational and literary text to reflect on and recreate experiences, report observations, and persuade others. • Standard 3: Students will understand the process of seeking and giving information in conversations, group discussions, written reports, and oral presentations.
Standard 1 • Objective 1: Determine word meaning through word parts, definitions, and context clues. • (Average 5 questions) • Can you figure out what a word means, how it is used, and why it is used based on: • Roots, prefixes, and suffixes • Dictionary definitions • The sentence/paragraph it is located in Students will use vocabulary development and an understanding of text elements and structures to comprehend literary and informational grade level text. 3 separate objectives will be tested
Standard 1 • Objective 2: Comprehend and evaluate informational text (i.e. web pages, newspapers, magazines, encyclopedias, maps, schedules, atlases, etc.) • Average 10 questions • Can you figure out what kind of information a text is giving you and why you would use the text? Students will use vocabulary development and an understanding of text elements and structures to comprehend literary and informational grade level text. 3 separate objectives will be tested

Standard 2 • Objective 3: Revise and edit to strengthen ideas, organization, voice, word choice, sentence fluency, and conventions. • Average 14 questions • Can you identify and fix grammar and meaning mistakes? • Remember the mini-ACT? Students will write informational and literary text to reflect on and recreate experiences, report observations, and persuade others. 1 separate objective will be tested.
Standard 3 • Objective 1: Use the process of inquiry to examine multiple points of view. • Average 7 questions • Can you do research to determine multiple points of view on a single topic? Students will understand the process of seeking and giving information in conversations, group discussions, written reports, and oral presentations. 1 separate objective will be tested.
