welcome Welcome to Camp Zoneat Montessori Country Day Our campers have the opportunity to expand their horizons during the summer, embarking on new adventures, and having fun! Our exceptional program and dedicated staff create an environment that forges lifelong friendships among our campers. We create a summer experience that is unforgettable! It all starts with our outstanding Montessori experienced camp counselors. A camp is only as good as its staff, and we are extremely proud of ours. Talent, creativity, love of children, leadership and devotion make our teachers the heart and soul of the program. Our counselors carry their Montessori expertise through to our camp program doing exactly what they enjoy most: spending a summer inspiring campers to explore, reach for new heights, and expand their horizons. Montessori Camp Zone®. Camp Zone® includes five days of activities, from 7:30am – 6:30 pm. We offer a range of outdoor activities, plus indoor activities conducted in our fully air conditioned facility. Swans & Hawks (ages 6 – 9 yrs) Camp Activities Morning Academic Session* Math – Campers will learn about money using problem solving techniques and measurement. They will explore an abundance of math concepts using games and fun extensions. Science – Campers will be encouraged to try out an assortment of experiments on a variety of subjects including buoyancy, light and magnetism. They will discover the circle of life with regard to a variety of specimens and will learn the proper use of a microscope. Language – During the language session, campers will refine their writing skills with poetry, journaling, and expressing thoughts and experiences through creative writing. They will learn the fun side of ad libs and practice spelling and grammar techniques. Geography – Animals, habitats, people, traditions, cultural relationships and even biomes will be the focus of geography while getting to know the world around us through research, writing and drawing. Land and water forms will be incorporated as well. History – History is a means to understand the past and present. Campers will explore events to interpret and revisit the past. These events will lead to investigation of historical events and figures that have shaped our changing world. * Includes the STEM Program (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math), which is designed to promote effective and relevant connections between camp classroom and hands on content thus providing learning opportunities for campers. Theme Based Activities Various arts and craft projects, music and movement, physical education, and culinary arts activities will be incorporated into our theme “Discover The Universe”. Daily Swim Lessons & Free Swim Daily swim lessons will focus on water safety, proper breathing, kicking and different strokes including the crowd favorite, the jellyfish! Campers will also be able to have some free time in the pool as well. Field Trips Some fun field trips to look forward to include: * Bowling * Ice Skating * NJ Statehouse * Grounds for Sculpture * Planetarium * And More! Butterflies & Katydids (ages 3 – 5 yrs) Camp Activities Theme Based Academics Academics will be incorporated while enjoying a fun summer camp atmosphere. Subjects will include: * Math * Language * Science * Geography * History Daily Swim Lessons & Free Swim Daily swim lessons will focus on water safety, proper breathing, kicking and different strokes including the crowd favorite, the jellyfish! Campers will also be able to have some free time in the pool as well. Arts & Crafts Our campers will enhance their creativity as they construct projects based on the various weekly theme as they discover the universe. Music & Movement Campers will sing songs and participate in dances from based on weekly themes. Physical Education Physical fitness is a vital part of the day for children. Campers will participate in exercises and play games that highlight fun, health and good sportsmanship. Culinary Arts Children will be enthralled in the cooking process as they savor various delicacies. Grasshoppers (ages 1.5 – 3 yrs) Camp Activities Transitioning Our youngest friends focus on transitioning easily into a school environment while learning through exploration. Vocabulary development, preparation for communication and establishing trust in the environment is also part of this process. Arts & Crafts Campers will create various projects pertaining to the “Discover The Universe” Theme. Music & Movement Our toddlers are always singing songs and dancing in class and they have so much fun doing it! While learning about different countries, these campers will learn songs and dances from a variety of cultures. Water Activities A littlest campers will enjoy “swimming” in our wading pool, using the sprinklers and playing various water games. DAILY SWIM Our facility includes an indoor temperature controlled pool. Our Swans & Hawks and Butterflies & Katydids groups receive daily swim lessons from our certified instructor and free swim regardless of the weather outside! From beginners to the more experienced swimmers, the focus will be: * Develop a comfort zone in social situations * Water Safety * Proper Breathing Techniques * Kicking * Various Different Strokes – includes freestyle, breast stroke, backstroke, and a crowd favorite, the jellyfish! Our campers will stay fit and cool all summer long!
