  4. What is the sun? The sun is a mid-size star, just one of over 100 billion in the galaxy… …there are billions of galaxies in the universe.

  5. How was the Sun formed? • Scientists believe the sun began as a large cloud of gas collapsed upon itself over millions of years. The majority of the material in this cloud of gas migrated towards the center, forming the sun. The remaining materials became the other objects in our solar system.

  6. How does the Sun affect the Earth? • The Sun provides energy for the Earth. • The Sun exerts a gravitational force on the Earth and other planets. • The Sun causes Earth’s seasons.
