Shelter • The different groups in the Tubatulabal tribe had all the same winter and summer houses. Winter Winter are a maze of poles covered in brush and covered in a dome with mud. Tule reeds cascade the floor. Summer In summer they use the same poles but take of the mud and old brush. They then use new brush and leaves.
Men Men rarely wore anything wore anything. But in winter they wore deerskin vest. Women Women wore a double sided skirt and the vest. Women also decorated they’re bodies with tattoos. They also wore necklaces and earrings. Clothing
Food Of course the Tubatulabal ate pine nuts. But what other things did the Tubatulabal eat? I can answer. Seeds, including chia and wild oats. Fish and acorn were another popular dish. And as for meat, deer, bear, and mountain lion. But one amazing thing they was sugar crystals from the honey dew. FIRST CANDY!!
Culture Many things define culture. In the Tubatulabal tribe it was they’re ceremonies. A clown was present at the yearly (or monthly) ceremonies. No not the big red nose kind, a different kind. The clown had white and red stripes on his face. Did you know that when a village wanted a new headman, the clown announced it? Looks like he was on the city council!!!!!!
MONEY!! As many tribes did the Tubatulabal used clamshell disks as money. But in Tubatulabal tribe if men wanted marry a girl, even if the girl did not want to marry the guy she would have to if the man offered her family many clamshell disks. The Tubatulabal also traded with the Shoshone and neighboring tribes.
