Habitat The Red Kangaroo lives in Australia and can be found in plains, grasslands, woods and deserts. Woods but not forests.
Adaptation #1 The Red Kangaroo has powerful muscles in its legs. They enable it to jump as far as thirty feet in one leap. Over short distances the species can move as fast as 35 mph. This helps them escape predators.
Adaptation #2 The Red Kangaroo’s fur reflects much heat and radiation from the sun. 30% of the radiation is reflected. This helps them cool down.
Adaptation #3 Males compete physically for the opportunity to breed females. They strike each other with their arms and feet. This helps them to fight.
Adaptation #4 The Red Kangaroo controls body heat through cooling techniques. These techniques are panting, sweating and licking. This helps it cool down.
Extra Information The Red Kangaroo can grow up to four feet tall and can weigh up to 120 pounds. They can also go long periods of time with out water
