Reebok distribution center Our distribution center is based in Topeka Kansas We chose Kansas because it is centrally located in the country. Diesel 18 wheel trucks will distribute to each state and then every state will have a small distribution center where we can use a more efficient vehicle and can ship to smaller retail stores that will be selling our product. Why start with Diesel? • For long trip distributions of the Reebok Zigslash we chose diesel 18 wheel trucks. The reason we did not use electric for the long trips is it would take lots of time to charge the battery due to the fact that the fed ex electric trucks can only go up to 100 miles on one charge. While an average 18 wheeler can go about 2,100 miles on one tank which would get you to all the continental states, from our distribution center in Kansas.
Why finish with Electric? • We chose electric trucks to run in state deliveries because the trucks can go most trips without multiple charge ups. This process can save the company lots of money due to the fact that there is less repairs and less to worry about with the electric cars. • The electric truck we chose was a Smith Electric Vehicle (SEV) . The average cost per mile for this van is seven cents, and can go about 100 miles per gallon equivalent. • Another reason to use electric vehicles in the shipping process is it is easier to market your company when you are more environmentally friendly.
