Definitions Search: A competitive recruitment opened via the AP Recruit System Search Waiver: A request to appoint an academic appointee without conducting a competitive search Exemption: A type of appointment that by UCSF policy does not require a search or a waiver All searches, waivers and exemptions must follow the UCSF Search and Waiver Policy and Procedures
