Objective • Players try to hit a golf ball into a hold using the least amount of strokes. • Many different types of clubs used • Typical round is 18 holes, but 9 holes are also an option
Par • Par is the amount of strokes it would take a skilled golfer to make each hole • Par 3-5 are typical on most courses • The higher the par, the more difficult the course is
Clubs • 14 standard golf clubs • Consist of a driver, a few fairway woods, 3-9 irons, pitching wedge, sand wedge, and a putter
History • Said to be a Scottish sport which originating in the 1100’s • King James IV of Scotland discovered the game • In the 15th century, there are two laws which prohibit the game of golf
Penalties • If the ball is hit out of bounds, player must return to initial spot and hit it again • An extra stroke is added to this penalty • Other penalties include: • Unplayable lie • Hitting other balls • Misplacing/ losing your ball

The Buick Open • The Buick Open has been held at Warwick Hills Golf & Country Club in Grand Blanc since 1958 • 2009 was the last year it was to be held there • The 17th hole is known to be one of the rowdiest holes in the PGA Tour
