  1. Be Part OF A Group That Enjoys The Same Activities As You Do Many people, out of choice, like doing things on their own, right from a quiet fishing trip in the woods to a day playing golf – also when it comes to hunting. However, most love being in the company of their wives and husbands, or their kids, or their mates – especially if they all enjoy similar activities. Take hunting, for example. This is one of those activities enjoyed the world all over, an activity that becomes, for many, an important part of their routine. Some people hunt professionally, but most enjoy it as a pastime, the perfect opportunity to escape their everyday routine of work and responsibility. If you have your own land, it is most likely easier to know what you will hunt at what times, but for those that want to find the ideal spot that meets all their requirements, it normally means finding the best circumstances. There are, obviously, a number of issues to consider such as time of the year, the state or region you want to visit, the prey you want to hunt, budget and every other important aspect that may apply to you, your family or circumstances. Many have found over the years that joining a hunting club, to become a member of a group that enjoys the same activities, is a great solution for them: people that enjoy the same activity will often have a similar goal and may even share similar dispositions.

  2. Hunting clubs make things so much easier for individuals in many ways: you share an interest, and practical considerations become less of an issue since there are arrangements in place to ensure a lot of your own frustrations, uncertainties and administrative issues are taken care of. It helps a lot with planning your trip if you can talk to others, exchange ideas and information, and getting someone to help you plan the hunt. In many states of the US, also the states in the Southeast where hunting is extremely popular such as Georgia, Virginia, or Alabama, or parts of Florida, for example, hunting clubs offer the hunter great opportunities to maximize their holiday, their free time or their pursuit of an activity that is dear to them. These clubs offer great opportunities in terms of all the issues individuals are not sure about, such as where to hunt at what time of the year, what to know about the county they visit or some general information they may be lacking when they plan the hunt. Also, camaraderie is, for many, high on their list of requirements when they put out their feelers. Therefore some will actually join together with friends or family – which many clubs welcome. Because people are individuals, it remains important to join a club that shares your ideals. For instance, how strongly do you feel about issues such as conservation? Make sure you are part of a group where all members have the same ideals in terms of which, say, habitat management is looked at – to ensure that you hunt prey which has been raised to acceptable standards and a good, healthy philosophy that ensures herds are properly controlled, not annihilated or producing sub-standard buck. The responsible hunter understands this and will only support a club with strong, ethical beliefs with regard to the animals they hunt. Importantly, make sure you understand and abide by all the rules and regulations of the club you join, that you know what all of the implications are – also in terms of your responsibilities in terms of meetings, additional responsibilities with regard to club projects, for example. Clubs differ – and membership will have an influence. Make sure you understand the club and ethos – and that it suits you – before you commit. Maybe most important of all is that you feel comfortable with the rest of the group and its other members before you join them. There are many opportunities in this regard. The South east has many clubs for individuals to join – every season.
