  5. B.) Cultural: 1.) Spread Ideas & Knowledge of West 2.) The “White Man’s Burden” • Help or Improve primitive people • Christians Missionaries aide C.) Political: 1.) Create an Empire to expand Influence 2.) Grow in Power and Dominance

  6. III.) Road to Imperialism Merchants/Explorers set sail Set up Trading Post -> Population builds Soldiers arrive -> Protect Citizens Engineers/Builders arrive-> Build Towns Develop for Benefit of Home Country Locals Excluded!! Locals Exploited & Suffer!!
