Metadata for Digital Preservation: A Status Report on PREMIS

This report discusses the status of the PREMIS preservation metadata framework, which aims to define a core set of implementable preservation metadata elements for digital preservation activities. It includes information on the implementation strategies, core elements, data model, and semantic units pertaining to objects, events, agents, and rights. The report also outlines the next steps and activities for the PREMIS community.

  8. Core Elements • Mission: Define a core set of implementable preservation metadata elements. • Information that supports and documents the digital preservation process; • Information that supports the the viability, renderability, understandability, identity and authenticity of digital objects over time.
