What is a career? • Long term, lifelong pursuit • Not just a job. • Combination of your skills, interests, values, and previous experience • Careers are based on goals. • Careers change (almost all the time!)
How do I build my career? Ask yourselves these questions: What are the things I like? What are my passions? What are my strengths? Who are my role models? What have I done before? Share with your partner!

Activity: Career Life Statement I am a Psychology graduate with a minor in French from Simon Fraser University. In my academic experience, I have learned that my passion lies in service and learning. I have finished many research-intensive courses which taught me how to interpret themes from complex information. As a result, I thrive in environments that are intellectually stimulating and engaging. My professional experience includes being a conversation coach for overseas students in my university and teaching English in an international school in Jiaxing, China. My work experience, therefore, has taught me to appreciate a rich cultural diversity in the field of international education.
