Plot of Chapters 1-12 • Feanor makes the Silmarils • Feanor banished to Formenos for threatening Fingolfin, Finwe goes too • To go to the feast, Feanor summoned • Melkor and Ungoliant kill the trees and Valar ask Feanor for Silmarils; he says “no” • Melkor kills Finwe and steals Silmarils • Feanor and sons swear Oath

Plot of Chapters 1-12 • Noldor leave under Feanor and Fingolfin • Teleri refuse to go or help build ships • At Alquelonde, Kinslaying, Feanor’s elves kill Teleri while stealing ships • Feanor does not send ships back for Fingolfin’s group, have to walk • Galadriel helps Fingolfin to get across ice (also not part of Kinslaying)

  10. Plot of Chapters 1-12 • Sindar (Thingol and Melian) meet Dwarves and work with them, they help Thingol build Menegroth • Evil rising in Beleriand, wolves, orcs • Denethor falls, Cirdan driven back • Thingol retreats to Doriath
