  2. Behavior What is done? The Behavior of a People (their customs) And the Products of that Behavior (Art, Music, Literature etc) Are the outward signs of a culture To understand them we must look beneath to the reasons they do these things

  3. Values What is Good or Best? What a person or a people do is determined by their values. You do what you think good or best. Example:The classical Greeks thought the human body was beautiful so they made nude statues.

  4. Beliefs What is True? Your values are determined by what you believe is true…your specific beliefs. Example: The Greeks believed that man was modeled on the gods therefore the human body was beautiful

  5. World View What is real? A culture’s worldview is its most basic foundational beliefs, such as “what is real?” and “who we are?” Other belief are based on them. Example: The Ancient Greek believed the gods were real therefore the myths were true man was modeled on the gods

  6. To understand a culture you need to consider the values, beliefs and worldview of that people. If you do what seems strange may become reasonable. A culture is like an onion. What you see on the outside is determined by the layers on the inside The Culture “Onion”
