Student Engagement Students will have access to their own Hero portal where they can monitor their point balances and view their Hero behavior history.
Parent Engagement • Hero Parent Portal/App • Parents can view their student’s behavior history, merit point totals, upcoming disciplinary actions (detentions, etc.) • Push Notifications (optional) • Parents can choose to receive push notifications to alert them instantly when their student is tracked in Hero. • Messaging (optional) • Parents may communicate back to the school to ask questions or comment on the Hero behavior activity.
Logging In • Website: • www.herok12.com/school • Enter your Username** • Enter your Password • Click button • ** use your school email address

Changing Your Password • Once in Hero: • Hover over your name – top right • Click Edit Details • Scroll down to Update Password • Enter Current Password • Enter New Password • Re-enter New Password • Click (To start animation, hover over Hero screen) Online resource: http://www.herok12.com/resource/updating-password
Behavior Tracking • To track student behaviors: • Options • Select all • Select one by one • Search • Name • Grade • ID number • Show Search / Hide Search • Track students • Select behavior • Confirmation page – submit • Confirmation message (To start animation, hover over Hero screen) Online Resource: http://www.herok12.com/resource/entering-behavior
Example: how to incorporate hero into your lessons • On Time • How will I know when to use Hero for On Time points? • EXAMPLE: The Hero champion does shout out over the PA for random periods of each day. “Hey teachers, give Hero points to all students who are in their seats & ready to go!” • On Task • When do I recognize students for being on-task? • EXAMPLE: Students are broken out into small groups within their classroom. The teacher appreciates how they are quietly working on their projects. The teacher opens Hero on the SMART Board and awards Hero points to on-task students. • Participation • When should I give out Hero points? • EXAMPLE: The teacher is reviewing a reading assignment with the class. In the process of asking the class questions regarding what they read, Hero is on the SMART Board and the teacher awards Hero points to the students who answer the questions.
Student Lookup • To Access: • Hover over menu on left • Click Student Lookup • Search by name, grade, or student ID • Features: • Displays student point total • Ability to track student • Click “Track Student” • Select behavior • Confirmation screen • View/ add student or parent login keys • Print behavior history • Click “Print History” • Print (To start animation, hover over Hero screen)

The Hero App for iOS & Android Smartphones NOTE FOR TEACHERS: Hero apps are best used for one-off tracking or whenever remote tracking is required (ex. hallways, field trip, etc.). For the most efficient method of entering classroom behaviors in Hero, use the web portal from a PC or tablet.
