THE RESEARCH identify and analyze aspects of school managers training/qualification and of the technical support they are given on the network • Qualitativeresearch: case study • document analysis and participant observation • questionnaires and semi-structured interviews
RESEARCH RESULTS • School managers come from the context of teaching • Practice x theory • Schools managers has difficulties in financial and administrative functions • They only made some kind of course about management after they were appointed to the public office
RESEARCH RESULTS • 93.75%: course helped to modify and improve managerial practices • 90%: obtained knowledge helped to change actions at the administrative level, at the pedagogical or both spheres • 92% believe in continuing training in management as a way to update knowledge and this type of qualification makes a difference in the professional practice
RESEARCH RESULTS • Topics that courses should cover: • planning and control • financial • educational management • people management • strategic and participative management training courses are a way to the development of systemic vision, strategic thinking and planning
RESEARCH RESULTS • Proposition: create a internal consultancy applied to the educational system • to manage and articulate the processes of training and technical support to school managers • to create and organize information about the profile of the school masters, best practices in school management and demands regarding the formation of these actors. • to act as articulators between various sectors which assist school network managers and between these sectors and managers
